Machinist (Afternoon Shift)

Responsibilities: 

  • Cut, shape and finish metal to make precision machining parts and components
  • Set up and operate conventional and numerically controlled metal-cutting machines and equipment
  • Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance
  • Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments
  • Check and complete program and dimensions
  • Monitor machine while working to adjust the feed, temperature and identify issues
  • Complete inspection records and reports along with any minor repairs as needed
  • Coordinate directly with engineers to understand project requirements, verify design details and recommend modifications as needed according to company standards
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a machine shop a must
  • Comfortable with using universal grinders, tool grinders, surface grinders, milling machines and drill presses
  • Ability to use precision tools to take measurements (ex. Calipers and micrometres etc.)
  • Ability to lift heavy materials
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of choosing proper parameter of machines and materials
  • Must be able to work independantly
